What is Parish Nursing?
Parish nursing, a ministry born out of the church, is a way of tending to the needs of the community by focusing on care for a person’s body, soul, spirit and mind. Parish nurses work with the pastors and parish staff as part of a team to assist parishioners in their search for wellness and a better quality of life. They provide care for all ages; children through seniors. Their ministry may include anything from blood pressure checks, to home visits, or linking people with local health care providers. Following Biblical principles and integration of Biblical values into the care provided to the community is of the utmost importance to parish nursing.
